Our 10 Favorite Nintendo Switch Drinking Games

1-2 Switch Drinking Game

As avid fans of drinking and video games we thought it’s about time we publish our list of favorite drinking games for the Nintendo Switch. Basically every Nintendo system has been a great catalyst for drinking games for one simple reason: ridiculously fun local multiplayer! These Nintendo Switch drinking games are a great way to get a buzz going while trying to master tricky motion controls.

Splatoon 2

Splatoon 2 Drinking Game - the chuggernauts

Nothing like getting drunk and trying to coordinate with a team. All you need is a couple pitchers or large cups and some pals to turn this splatfest into a sloshfest.

Drinking Rules

At the start of this game you’ll need 2 pint glasses. Fill one to the top and leave the other empty. Then just play out a game of Turf War as normal. At the end of the match you should get a percentage score for how much of the turf your team covered. Try as best you can to split the drink into those two cups equal to those percentages. Therefor if one team for 72% and the other got 28% then put 72% of that drink in one cup and 28% in the other. The losing team drinks the larger amount, winning team gets the smaller amount. You can argue among yourselves until it’s close enough to matching the percentages. If you want to kick it up a notch you can also play this game with 2 pitchers instead of pint glasses.

1-2 Switch

1-2 Switch Drinking Game

Like every flagship game that’s been launched with a nintendo console to show off it’s motion controls, 1-2 Switch makes for a perfect drunken experience. Just make sure to keep those wrist-strapped fastened.

Drinking Rules

This one is a two player drinking game. Players can swap out between rounds if they want to include more people. Basically pick any 1-on-1 game. Loser drinks but also gets to pick the next game. First player to win 3 games wins and the loser must finish their drink. Easy enough!

OverCooked

OverCooked

OverCooked is a game all about team coordination and speedy smart decision making in a high pressure kitchen environment. Which is to say it gets extremely difficult if you’ve had a few drinks. And that’s what makes it a fun drinking game for the Nintendo Switch.

Drinking Rules

  1. Anytime something gets unintentionally burnt, everyone must stop immediately and drink 3 times.
  2. If anyone prepares something nobody was asking for, whoever prepared it must stop and drink 3 times.
  3. At the end of each level everyone drinks twice for each star they didn’t get.

Hardmode

If you want to make this even more hectic incorporate this rule. Every time someone mentions the name of a food item they must drink once.

Mario Tennis Aces

The Mario Tennis Aces Drinking Game - the chuggernauts

Like any Mario Sports game this one is just silly enough to make a great drinking game. As far as the rules go this is definitely one of the simpler ones on the list.

Drinking Rules

Drink once when…

  1. Your opponent gets a point on you
  2. You get a fault

Drink twice when…

  1. Your opponent scores with their special move
  2. You get a double-fault

Loser of the match finishes their drink in shame.

Arms

Arms Drinking Game - the chuggernauts

Arms is a great game that really makes use of motion controls which makes it an awesome candidate for a drinking game. This one is a little more crazy than most of the games on the list since it actually involves players chugging back brews right out of the gate therefore you might want to get a towel or something nearby to clean up spillage.

Drinking Rules

For this game players must all start with an full drink. When the round starts everyone must be holding their drink in one hand; they can only put it down when it’s finished. Meaning they can either try to win one handed or pound back the drink and free up their hand for the other joycon. Then at the end players must drink depending on their placement. 4 sips for 4th place, 3 for 3rd, etc…

Fortnite

Fortnite Drinking Game - theChuggernauts.com

Fortnite has existed for mostly every other platform but is now finding a home on the Switch. This game has gotten massive popularity in the way it brings all the tryhards and clueless noobs into the same room. Our Fortnite for the Switch drinking game is fairly simple, place bad = drink more.

Drinking Rules

When you die, check your placement and drink accordingly. Then make sure to watch the player cam of whoever killed you to tack on some more drinks as the game goes on. This game works best taking turns in single player but you can also do it in team mode if you want. Other players will have to take drinks if you do well.

  • 1st Place – Everyone else but you finishes their drink.
  • 2nd-5th – Assign 5 sips to other players
  • 5th-10th – Assign 3 sips to other players
  • 10th-25th – Take a single sip
  • 25th-50th – Take two sips
  • 50th-75th – Take three sips
  • 75th-99th – Take five sips
  • 100th – Finish your drink

Now that you’ve drank for placement you have to watch the player who killed you. Every time that player dies and the camera follows a new player take a sip. If you’re in team mode simply pick a team mate and wait for them to die and drink for their position.

Mario Kart 8 Deluxe

Mario Kart

For this one we’re going to have to go with the classic Mario Kart drunk driving created by the Drinking Games for Gamers YouTube group. This one is a time tested classic and is always a fan favorite.

Drinking Rules

What happens in this game is each player starts with a full closed beer. Nobody is allowed to cross the finish line before that beer is done. This means that if someone is getting close to the finish they have to stop and finish their drink before they can cross. The amount of crazy strategies people come up with this is great like watching people try to drink with no-hands as they use both for the controller.

Rocket League

Rocket League Drinking Game - TheChuggernauts.com

As far as funnest games to play while drunk this one nearly tops our list. The amount of precision it takes to hit the ball exactly how you want it makes this game a great time. This game is for the online modes however since some of the drinking rules involve when other players spam quick chat options sarcastically.

Gameplay Drinking Rules

  • If you get demolished or your team gets scored on take a sip.
  • At the end of the game if your team lost by 3 or more finish your drink.

Quickchat Drinking Rules

  • If someone says “What a save!” after your team is scored on, take a drink.
  • Drink for every player that says gg at the end of the game.
  • Drink for whenever anyone says “nice shot!” after you miss a shot.

Stardew Valley

The Stardew Valley Drinking Game - the chuggernauts

Now this is the only non-multiplayer game we have on the list(although that’s soon to change with an upcoming update). But this game is so ridiculously relaxing it’d be a shame to not enjoy a cold drink while you slowly build up your lovely farm.

Drinking Rules

Take a sip whenever…

  • One of your crops die
  • You get mail
  • A fish gets away from you
  • Someone doesn’t appreciate one of your gifts
  • You resort to eating your own produce
  • You forget where to find something or someone and have to check the map

Finish your drink if…

  • Your energy meter runs our or you stay up too late causing you to pass out
  • You get knocked out in the mines
  • You miss an important town event

Super Bomberman R

The Bomberman Drinking Game - the chuggernauts

Another Nintendo console; another great Bomberman game. This one sticks to the same formula as most other games in the series so we’re just gonna recycle one of our older drinking games for this one.

Drinking Rules

For this one you can use any number of players you want. First you’ll want to queue up a first-to-3 game on whichever map you want.

Whenever someone wins a match they get to give out drinks equal to the total number of wins each player has. These can be divided out however you want.

Bonus Drinks

If you die to your own bomb, or get killed by one of the dead players tossing a bomb from the sidelines you must take an additional drink.
