This Go drinking game is for the classic board game dating back as far as 2500 years ago where players try to capture each other’s stones and surround more territory than their opponent. The game itself is very simple but it’s deceptively complex, which makes for a great drinking game.
This game is a 1 on 1 game. One player has white stones and the other has black stones. They take turns placing their stones and taking over opponents stones if they manage to get one on either side of them.
Generally these games can last quite a long time (unless one player is much better than the other) so make sure to bring a lot of drinks to keep you company.
What You’ll Need
Any size of Go board and some drinks.
Go Drinking Game Rules
This game has only a couple drinking rules. Since this game takes about an hour or more this will be more than enough.
Take a drink whenever you put someone into Atari.
Atari is when your stones are surrounding the opponents stones leaving them only 1 liable option and rendering their stones pretty useless. This means you want to be careful setting up Ataris since it will cause you a ton of drinking throughout the course of the game.
The only other drinking rule is the loser of the game must finish their drink.
Optional Blitz Rule
If you want to speed things up and get some more drinking done incorporate this blitz rule. Set a timer to go off every 30 seconds. If it goes off before you finish your turn take a sip. Then take an additional sip for every time it goes off after.
This Go drinking game is a great way to up the ante and make you really think if it’s worth it to lock out your opponent early on.
