Loaded Kittens – The Exploding Kittens Drinking Game

Exploding Kittens Drinking Game - the chuggernauts

Our Exploding Kittens drinking game combines two of our favorite things, playing card games and getting tipsy. Basically players put some of their drink into a cup every turn, and whenever someone explodes they have to chug the glass. So if you’re a fan of casual drinking and table top gaming, why not combine the two?

This game works with any of the many expansions that come with the game. The game itself supports 2-5 players, so if you want to play with more than that you’ll need to grab one of the expansions that allow for more players like the Party Pack.

Base Rules

How To Play Exploding Kittens

For those that have never played Exploding Kittens, the basic idea of the game is to not get an exploding kitten by any means necessary.

At the end of every turn players draw a card and pray that it’s not an Exploding kitten. If it is they lose.

Players can play cards on their turn to hope to avoid exploding but sometimes it’s inevitable.

These are only the bare bones rules for this game, if you wanted to check out how to play watch this quick 2 minute tutorial.

What You’ll Need

For this game all you need is the base game, an empty glass, and some drinks. We suggest tossing in the Imploding Kittens Expansion to get the dunce cap so you can shame players while they have to chug their drink. Way to lose, doofus!

For the sake of not making some curdling concoction of liquid death, this game works best if players are drinking the same type of beverage. There’s always that one jerk who decides to bring Mudslides to the drinking game table.

The Cup

To add insult to injury, players are gonna have to chug a glass of beer or mixed drink when they inevitably explode.

Exploding Kittens Cup - the chuggernauts

At the end of each turn, when a player draws a card, if it’s not an Exploding Kitten they can pour as much of their drink as they want into the cup.

However if it is, and they are eliminated they must chug the everything in the cup. This is where the dunce cap comes in handy so other players can hiss and boo them until they finish.

Extra Drinking Rules

On top of the cup finishing rules there’s a couple extra rules to keep your whistles wet.

  • If any of your actions get Nope’d, take a sip.
  • If you get a card stolen or discarded, take a sip.
  • If someone lays down 3 of a kind and steals a specific card from you, take two sips

The Cone Of Shame

Chugging with the help of the Cone of Shame and the BierStick

For those unaware the Imploding Kittens expansion comes with a cone of shame. We strongly suggest getting this for this game. What we usually do is have players wear it while they chug their drink for losing while every other player boos them. It just makes losing that much more embarrassing. If you don’t have this expansion handy we suggest finding the dumbest head apparel you can find to substitute.

Playing With More Players

Exploding Kittens Multi Player - the chuggernauts

The base game covers up to 5 players. But if you want more than that you might need to pick up an expansion in order to get more cards to deal out. The Party Expansion allows up to 10 players, which should be more than enough.

Currently the Exploding Kittens Party Pack is available through their online store.
