This is a drinking game for people who are into quick math. Not everyone likes to do a lot of thinking while they’re drinking, but for those that do the Prime Numbers drinking game is a great fit. It’s pretty simple, players go around saying the next number in sequence and if it’s prime they instead say the word “Prime”. Whoever messes up drinks. This game works with any number of players.

What You’ll Need

All you need for this game is a bit of math skill and some drinks. Players should sit in a circle either around a table or on the floor.

Prime Numbers Drinking Game Rules

Play order of this game is clockwise. It’s pretty easy to understand but very easy to mess up.

Players go in turn saying numbers in order. Whenever someone is about to say a prime number they instead say “Prime!” and that number is skipped.

For those that aren’t aware a “Prime” number is a number that can only be divided by 1 and itself. As you count further there are less and less prime numbers and they become much harder to spot.

If anyone takes to long to say their number, says the wrong number, or fails to say “Prime” when they are supposed to they have to drink. They then start the next round.

Here’s a quick list of the all the primes from 1-200.  (Note: 1 is not considered a prime. This gets a lot of people)

2, 3, 5, 7, 11, 13, 17, 19, 23, 29, 31, 37, 41, 43, 47, 53, 59, 61, 67, 71, 73, 79, 83, 89, 97, 101, 103, 107, 109, 113, 127, 131, 137, 139, 149, 151, 157, 163, 167, 173, 179, 181, 191, 193, 197 and 199.

There’s plenty more past that but if you’re making it all the way to 200 you and your group might already be too smart for this game.

 

The Prime Numbers drinking game is great for people looking to keep their brains active while they drink. There’s very few math drinking games out there so it’s slim pickins. Although as with any drinking game please make sure to pace yourself and drink responsibly.
